Safety
Practical tips for meeting people through Valentree.
Meeting new people in person can be meaningful, but no product can remove every risk. Use judgment, choose public places, and leave any situation that feels wrong.

Before you go
- Meet in public places. Choose busy, well-lit spots such as cafes, parks, restaurants, or public venues. Avoid private homes or isolated locations for a first meetup.
- Tell someone where you are going. Share the event details and timing with a friend or family member, and check in with them afterward.
- Plan your own transportation. Arrange how you will get there and back so you can leave whenever you want.
- Keep personal details private. There is no need to share your home address, financial information, or other sensitive details with people you just met.
While you are there
- Trust your instincts. If something or someone feels off, you do not owe anyone an explanation.
- Leave if you feel uncomfortable. It is always okay to end a meetup early and head home.
- Watch your food and drinks. Stay aware and clear-headed enough to look after yourself.
- Never send money. Anyone asking for money, gifts, or financial help is a red flag. Do not do it, and report them.
If something goes wrong
- Report inappropriate behavior through the app on a profile, message, or event, or email moderation@valentree.com.
- Block anyone you do not want to interact with.
If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services right away (for example, 911 in Canada and the United States). Reporting in the app does not contact emergency services and is not a substitute for them.
For the behavior we expect from everyone, see our Community Guidelines.
